Encased thermostats are suitable for applications where the appearance is important, or touching the contacts is not desired. In adjustable thermostats, the temperature can be set by a knob or screwdriver. Safety thermostats can be either factory set to a fixed temperature or adjusted by a screwdriver. Safety thermostats are fitted with manual reset and so called positive cut-off activated when e.g. capillary breaks.
These are designed to measure temperature of a pipe by direct contact – being fixed on the pipe with a spring. It is advisable to apply thermally conductive paste on the thermostat’s rear side for better heat transfer.
Sheath mount models
The sheath is fitted with ½“ NPT outer thread for installation into a sleeve placed where the temperature shall be monitored. The thermostat sensor shall be inserted into the sheath until the thermostat body touches the sheath. It shall be fixed in that position using a screw in the plastic collar.
The sensor shall be inserted into an already mounted sheath and fixed using the safety spring. The respective thermostat, connected with the sensor through a capillary, shall be mounted to a suitable place using M3 or M4 screws.
With perforated sheath
These are designed to monitor air temperature. They shall be fixed using M3 or M4 screw, ensuring free air flow through the sheath.
