They automatically mix the return water from the heating system (or storage tank) with the outlet water from the boiler, thereby maintaining the return water temperature to the boiler at a specified minimum temperature.
The floating check valve allows the boiler to be cooled by gravity circulation during a power outage and simultaneously prevents the storage tank from cooling down via the boiler after it has gone out.
